The only constant is change.

This truism applies double to children, changing and evolving every day as they learn and discover the wonder around them. Inch by inch, they outgrow the clothes you thought they’d never fit into.

I jokingly tell new mothers this theory when they complain that suddenly their infant refuses to fall asleep after months of blissful slumber. As soon as you figure them out, they change all the rules.

And isn’t change good? Frustrating sometimes when a favorite food is unceremoniously shunned at the worst possible moment, but at the same time, delightful and extraordinary.

Business is no different from life. The only constant IS change. New ideas, new competition, new market conditions, new rules. So why is it that in business we fear change?

Embrace change for what it is: an opportunity to innovate and grow. Look at change as an opportunity to get ahead by adapting faster than your competition and seizing new opportunities.
