The BIG Idea File: 7 Easy Ways to Use Video to Uplevel your Business
I know what many of you are saying to yourselves right now.
“Video is so complicated! I’m not a technical kind of person! I don’t look good on video!”
We’ve all said that – even those of us who have made dozens of videos. I’ve even said that, a person who created the program to teach entrepreneurs how to create and use online videos in their small businesses!
The secret is that video does not have to be complicated. It does not require tons of complicated, technical steps. You don’t have to be perfect.
The power of video is not from the fancy. It’s from the message. It’s from you being yourself, communicating your personality, speaking your truth.
And once you break the seal and make your first video, you’ll find it’s the easiest way to differentiate your business, communicate your message, bond with your audience, and create powerful, intimate relationships with your clients & customers.
So to get you started, here are seven easy ways to use your first video to uplevel the online presence of your small business:
- Create a video post instead of a written blog post or article. Now you don’t want to just read your article word for word – unless you’re a professional actor, that would sound boring and forced. No, I suggest you create bullet points and rehearse your “speech” of those points (keep it short!), and film your content instead of writing it.
- A welcome video for new clients. When you sign a contract with a new client, a customer makes their first purchase, or you signup a new person in your downline, send them over to a special page with a short welcome video. Depending upon the price point and number of clients, you may have one generic video for everyone, or create new videos for each client.
- Instructions on the email list opt-in page. This is one of my most successful secrets – have a video on the conformation page for your double opt-in email/ezine list, giving your audience detailed instructions on how to confirm their opt-in. This took my double opt-in confirmation rate from 66% to 93%.
- Speak your call to action on your website or sales page. Instead of just writing to ask your website visitors to signup, call, or buy, also have a video calling them to take the specific action that works for your business. Your personal contact through the video will be more persuasive than just a written “signup here” button.
- Share a day (or hour, or 3 minutes) of your life. You may decide to share clips of your kid’s birthday party, the status of the renovation of your kitchen, the behind the scenes in your office, or you opening up the first shipment of your new books. Either way, sharing a little of the reality show of your life is an amazing way to develop a more personal relationship with your people.
- Record a book, website, or software review. Reviewing a tool is incredibly useful for your audience, a great way to develop a relationship with the creator of the tool, and can be useful for SEO of your website. If you want to avoid being on camera, use Screenflow or Camtasia to create a screen capture video of your review.
- Create a video version of your prospect presentation or speech. If you regularly give the same presentation over and over to prospects or at live speaking gigs, create a recorded version that you can either place on your main website, or on a private site that you send just to targeted prospects or people who opt-in to your list. You may choose to record yourself as a “talking head” or just have your voice heard over the powerpoint slides.
